چکیده

In this paper interference management in co-channel deployment of macrocell and cognitive femtocells is investigated. For the purpose of the aggregate interference mitigation from all femtocell access points (FAP) to macrocell user equipment (MUE) and the purpose to increase the radio link quality of femtocell system, a parameter named interference tolerable threshold (Ith) is introduced, the aim is to reduce the interference an individual FAP causes to MUE to a level lower than Ith. A dynamic Ith control scheme is proposed to determine the appropriate value of this threshold. The simulation results show that the highest available Ith depends on the total number of FAPs, a larger number of FAPs does affect aggregate interference even if the individual interference is in acceptable range. The proposed method, however, achieves the adaptation of the highest available Ith without needing knowledge about the number of FAPs in the vicinity of MUEs. Co-tier and Co-channel Interference Avoidance Algorithm for Femtocell Networks

Femtocells are regarded as a milestone for next generation cellular networks. As femtocells are deployed in an unplanned manner, there is a chance of assigning same resource to neighboring femtocells. This scenario may induce co-channel interference and may seriously affect the service quality of neighboring femtocells. In addition, the dominant transmit power of a femtocell will induce co-tier...

Downlink interference minimization in cooperative cognitive LTE-femtocell networks

Femtocell is considered to be one of the most promising solutions for future indoor wireless communication. Due to the scarcity of spectrum resources, femtocells need to share the spectrum with other networks, which will inevitably bring in severe interference. Therefore, minimizing the cross-tier and co-tier interference while maintaining high system throughput or spectrum efficiency is one of...

Dynamic Spectrum Sharing in Cognitive Radio Femtocell Networks

Femtocell is envisioned as a highly promising solution to tackle the communications in the indoor environments, which has been a very challenging problem for mobile network operators. Currently, the spectrum allocated to femtocells is from the same licensed spectrum of macrocells, and the same mobile network operator. In this case, the capacity of femtocell networks may be largely limited due t...

An interference-aware virtual clustering paradigm for resource management in cognitive femtocell networks

Femtocells represent a promising alternative solution for high quality wireless access in indoor scenarios where conventional cellular system coverage can be poor. They are randomly deployed by the end user, so only post deployment network planning is possible. Furthermore, this uncoordinated deployment creates severe interference to co-located femtocells, especially in dense deployments. This ...
